For the past few months, I’ve been working with a great team out of Denmark on some really exciting new fantasy games. @MGPFireball, @FrederickPalle, and @osudengaard have been organizing the Danish Fantasy Football Championship for several years and have hundreds of participants each year from Denmark. They play NFL fantasy football, but because their number of participants was growing so fast, they were having problems organizing the whole thing on other fantasy football platforms. That’s when they reached out to me to see if I would make some custom tools to help with organizing large fantasy associations like this. Of course, I was excited about it and agreed. Then we thought, why do it just for the Danish Championship? Why not open it up to the whole world? And with that the World Cup of Fantasy Football was born.
This year, during the 2019 NFL season, participants will be competing in one of several leagues representing their home country. The winners of those leagues will be promoted in 2020 to the Fantasy Football World Cup and represent their country amongst the best fantasy players from around the world.
Players from several countries including Denmark, the United States, and Australia have already started signing up. If you don’t see your country on the list, feel free to reach out to us to have your country added, or join the “International” division. Sign up here.
This is a beta test for hosting associations like this on altfantasysports.com. I’ve built everything in a general way so that other people that run associations can use the same tools. Has your work fantasy league grown so big that it would make sense to split it into multiple leagues that can all be managed together? Want to start a giant promotion/relegation association? Reach out to me and we can work together to have you be a beta tester, as well. It’s a private beta right now, but once all the kinks are worked out after this NFL season, I’ll open it up to everyone.
